Fees and Expenses
The Scarborough Advantage has no upfront sales charges and unlike most variable annuities there are no withdrawal charges (surrender charges.) This means that 100% of your money is invested and 100% of your account value is available to you at any time*.

Here's how the Scarborough Advantage compares to other Variable Annuities.
Other Variable Annuities The Scarborough Advantage
Upfront Sales charges NONE NONE

Withdrawal charges Up to 9% for 9 years NONE*

Here's an example of how fees can impact your account.

9% Withdrawal Charge:

If you invested $100,000 in a variable annuity and later needed to withdraw the money or decided to transfer your money out (didn't like investment performance, service, etc.) there would be costly withdrawal fees deducted from your account. An annuity with a 9% withdrawal charge in the first year could cost you $9,000.

* Withdrawals of earnings prior to age 59-1/2 will be subject to IRS penalty.

Guaranteed Death Benefit
Scarborough Advantage Variable Annuity provides participants with a guaranteed death benefit. This allows the proceeds of your account to be paid to your designated beneficiary upon your death.*

If a spouse is your sole surviving beneficiary they may also choose to keep the account in force.*

* Death benefit proceeds will be paid to a beneficiary upon receipt of proof of death; a surviving spouse beneficiary will be subject to certain limitations. Please see the prospectus for more information regarding the guaranteed death benefits.
